San Francisco on the Move: The City’s House-moving Heritage from 1860 to Modern Times
with Diane Donovan
Tuesday, January 12, 2016 - 7:30 PM

San Francisco’s house-moving heritage is second only to Chicago’s in its scope and duration; but until now, no single book has focused on this topic. San Francisco native Diane Donovan, author of Arcadia Publishing’s new visual history San Francisco Relocated, will provide a panoramic overview of some of the high points and amazing visual images depicting these events, and will present original research based on her interviews with small-time, modern San Francisco house movers whose efforts changed the Portola District, Potrero Hill, and other neighborhoods.
