Walking tours are a great way to learn more about your own neighborhood or to explore new parts of San Francisco. Some tours are given by SFMHS volunteer docents; these tours are generally free of charge. Other tours are given in conjunction with San Francisco City Guides, and require advance reservations and payment of $15 per person.

SFMHS also offers guided tours of each of the four sections of the Barbary Coast Trail®. These tours, listed here, are free for SFMHS members and $15 per person for non-members. Advance reservations are required.

Diego Rivera at the Stock Exchange Tower

The mural “Allegory of California” graces the stairwell of the City Club (formerly the Pacific Stock Exchange Club). Normally closed the public, this is an opportunity to see the first mural painted in the United States by the great Mexican artist, Diego Rivera. The City Club is considered the best interior in the Art Deco style in San Francisco, and among the best in California.

Cancellation Policy for Pre-paid Tours and Events

For tours and special events requiring advance payment, only cancellations received at least five (5) business days prior to the event receive a full refund. Cancellations received with less than five (5) business days notice may be credited towards future SFMHS events (within six months). Tours or events that are cancelled due to weather or other reasons will be refunded within five (5) business days of the event.

NO refunds are made for no-shows or early departures.
