Meet the Team

Toddy Mayberry
Executive Director
Over three decades, Mayberry has assisted a diverse range of cultural heritage organiza- tions in deepening their support and broadening their reach. He joins the Society having most recently managed Wells Fargo’s corporate museum, located at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.
His experience includes leading statewide grant-making and advocacy work at the Oregon Heritage Commission, developing award-winning exhibitions and educational programs at the Japanese American Museum of Oregon, and serving as the development officer of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington.
Mayberry received a master’s degree in museology at the University of Washington, with additional training through the University of Victoria’s Cultural Resource Management Program. He started his career at the Minnesota Historical Society, overseeing the stewardship and exhibition of the state’s material culture collection across a network of historic sites, from city and tribal museums to interpretive centers and historic houses.
Mayberry says, “Through partnerships and collaboration, I have advanced the missions of organizations and institutions to reflect the diverse audiences and communities that we serve. At the San Francisco Historical Society, I look forward to applying my hands-on expertise to help transform the rich stories of San Francisco into innovative and enriching experiences that are accessible to all."

Lana Costantini
Deputy Director
Lana Costantini, Director of Operations, wears many hats. She is editor-in-chief of SFHS publications and she manages monthly programs, online presentations, and special events. She is a founding member of two Bay Area non-profits and a former SF small business owner. Lana has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Montana and spent 25 years in educational publishing and curriculum design. Her professional roles in the publishing industry include managing editor, director of product development, and her favorite—writer. In addition to working with the Historical Society, she is a freelance writer and editor. Clients include Houghton Mifflin-Harcourt, Scholastic, and National Geographic.

Chris Grifith
Membership & Marketing Coordinator
As the Membership and Marketing Coordinator at the San Francisco Historical Society, I enjoy making connections with members and supporters who enjoy celebrating San Francisco’s past. In my role, I assist with member engagement, donor relations, and fundraising initiatives to assist with the continued success of our programs and events. I was born and raised in Pasadena, CA, and I’m currently pursuing a Finance degree at the University of San Francisco. Outside of my work with SFHS, I have a passion for financial investments, the automotive industry and martial arts.

Olivia Lahs-Gonzales
Curation and Grants Director
Olivia Lahs-Gonzales brings 30 years of experience as a curator, non-profit arts director, writer, and artist. Among the roles she has held throughout her career is director of the Sheldon Art Galleries in St. Louis, where for 17 years she developed and curated a program of 13-15 exhibitions annually with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and community. Prior to that, she was Assistant Curator at the Saint Louis Art Museum for 9 years, and worked at the Regional Arts Commission-St. Louis associate Director of Artists Programs. At the San Francisco Historical Society, Lahs-Gonzales manages the collections and exhibitions, and serves as a grant writer and administrator.

Beth Roemer
Education Director
Beth Roemer is the Education Director at the San Francisco Historical Society. Prior to that, she has held many roles in the education field such as high school Social Studies teacher, Preschool Admissions Director at the Russian Hill School and as Director of Client Services at Antenna Audio (partnering with museums to create audio tours!). As the Education Director, Beth oversees the educational programming and engagement with elementary schools (4th grade especially), middle schools and high schools. Beth also works with our college interns and numerous volunteers, who are the backbone of SFHS!
