Permanent

Intro earthquake case_edited.jpg

Located at the Grand Entrance, the 1906 Earthquake and Fire exhibit contains many historic artifacts that survived the disaster. From broken plates to surviving artwork of the period, this display has an incredible range of historic items from the common folks who call the City home.

The exhibit also contains some of the only photographs that were taken during the disaster, inducing, a panoramic wide photo that illustrates the sheer destruction of this event.

We highly encourage visitors to learn more about the earthquake and fire by attending one of our free docent walking tours that happen every Saturday at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. The San Francisco Historical Society also has regularly scheduled walking tours on the subject as well.
